New Los Angeles Lakers' head coach Byron Scott heads into the 2014-15 season with a fresh strategy and even more fresh faces. With multiple big name offseason acquisitions like Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer, Scott is eager to see his new team come together around veterans Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash.

Scott talks about being nervous heading into his season debut, despite Los Angeles being the fifth different franchise he has coached. Scott is familiar with the city, however, as he played 11 of his 14 NBA seasons with the franchise, accumulating three NBA championships during the "showtime" era during the late '80s.

Scott, originally drafted fourth overall by the San Diego Clippers in the 1983 NBA Draft, was immediately traded to the Lakers and talks about the recent rivalry between the two franchises as the Clippers have had the more recent success.

"I have a chip on my shoulder because everyone keeps saying they're number one in Los Angeles. It's still a purple and gold town," said Scott. "We're looking to make sure in the next couple of years that this rivalry is truly what it should be, which is a rivalry of two great basketball teams here in LA." 

After having a 27-55 record last season, the most losses in franchise history, Scott plans on having his team back to the Lakers' traditional winning ways in no time. The Lakers open the preseason against conference foe, the Denver Nuggets, on October 6.
