Gordo the Dog Caught in the Middle of L.A. Police Chase

Gordo the dog may have to lose a limb, but veterinarians expect a full recovery.

The little white dog struck during a police chase is going to be okay.

Gordo, a small white poodle mix, was hit just outside his home on 87th Street in South Los Angeles on Wednesday night. The white Chevrolet Astro, which had been reported as stolen, led police on a 30-minute chase after refusing to pull over. When the van was finally stopped around 9 p.m., two suspects were pulled from the van and arrested.

L.A. residents watched as the van, driving on its rims, hit Gordo and continued to drive, leaving a trail of sparks behind. Viewers took to Twitter using #SaveTheWhiteDog to show their support and express their concerns for the little dog.

Gordo was brought to ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital in Culver City, where he was given emergency care and kept overnight. Hospital doctors Dr. Carey and Dr. Lo brought Gordo in for surgery on one of his legs Thursday afternoon and he is expected to make a full recovery.

COMMENTS

This innocent little dog should get a new family. The owner said one of the kids left the gate open, has anyone checked what gate, I am thinking back yard, meaning this little pup is not a beloved inside member of the family. Someone should check on his habitat. Don't just give him back to a family that cannot take care of him properly.
