Spotify's Most Musical Schools in America
A recent survey from Spotify revealed that the University of Southern California is among the top 40 musical universities in America.
The digital music service collected data from students around the country who registered for a student deal and created a list of colleges whose attendees spent the most time listening to music.
USC took the 30th spot on the list, with more than 50 percent of students selecting popular music as their genre of choice.
The most listened to track by students on campus was “Summer” by Calvin Harris, with Disclosure’s “Latch” taking a close second. Disclosure, however, was the most listened to artist.
Other popular artists at USC include Lana Del Rey, Sam Smith and Flume.
The Spotify survey determined that the most common time for USC students to listen to music is at 4 p.m., and most of them continue to listen until the estimated school-wide bedtime of 1 a.m.
With a “typical wakeup” time of 8:45 a.m., students at USC are predicted to get about seven hours and 45 minutes of sleep each night, which is lower than the average school.
How does USC stack up? Compared to UCLA, which was ranked number three on the list, USC students are more likely to wake up earlier. People at the Southern California campus are also big fans of “trip hop”, while students at UCLA prefer future garage.
The number one spot for the most musical school in America went to California Polytechnic State University, where the most distinctive track listened to was “Get Low” by Dillon Francis.
