Students Thank Wallis Annenberg for New Building
Students gathered in the new Wallis Annenberg Hall Forum Wednesday morning to participate in a “Thank-You” video for Wallis Annenberg for her donation of the new building.
Annenberg Public Affairs and Special Events organized students to stand around the stairs on three different floors of the building and shout, “Thank you,” to the cameraman.
The video will be presented to Wallis Annenberg at the buildings Grand Opening Celebration to show the students’ appreciation.
“The only support I get is through the scholarship that I have with the University, so I wouldn’t be able to be here without the help that I got in that way,” said Stayci Lewis, a senior communication. “So when I see the help coming from people who don’t have to give, it really does mean a lot.”
Students are already enjoying the benefits of the new building through its various study spots, new café and the brand new Media Center.
“The work spaces are a great asset to the school," said senior broadcast and digital journalism student Tina Gutierrez. "I know space was the major problem with the other building, but now we have ample space with this new building."
Wallis Annenberg Hall has a number of new features such as the Digital Lounge, a 160-person auditorium, top-line broadcasting and radio studios, and a converged media center for all the student media outlets.
The Wallis Annenberg Hall Grand Opening ceremony will be held on Oct. 1.
