"It's Going Down, I'm Yelling Timber!"

A student's car is damaged after a large tree falls on The Row.

A large tree fell on top of a parked car on The Row Tuesday night. The Volkswagen belonged to Raphie Cantor USC cinema student and member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity.

Cantor found out about the incident while he was in class, when a friend sent him a Snapchat of the fallen tree and damaged car.

“I thought it was funny because the tree looked like my car, and then I realized it was my car, so I ran out of class,” he said.

The car was parked in front of the Phi Sigma Kappa house, and the fraternity’s security camera was able to get footage of the fall. The tree was city property, and workers were sent to move it. Unfortunately, the car was further damaged during the tree's removal. Cantor is hoping that the city will compensate him for the damages.

“It think this was kind of a random occurrence. Life is weird sometimes. Hopefully it all gets worked out.”

Despite the incident, other residents on The Row say they are not worried about falling trees. Andrew Sonnabend of Phi Delta Theta said, “I’ll just be a little bit wary about parking next to really tall trees. But for the most part, most of the trees on The Row seem to be pretty sturdy, so I’m not super concerned.”
