Car Accident Injures Mom, Children Near USC Campus

The three are in stable condition after a car accident on Jefferson and Vermont.

A silver Nissan turning left on Jefferson Boulevard struck a woman and her two young children waiting for a Metro bus Monday afternoon at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Vermont Avenue. All three are in stable condition after being taken to a nearby hospital, police said.

The two children are one and three years old, respectively. Flor Alvarez, the aunt of the injured mother, was called to the scene by police to pick up clothes belonging to the mother and children that were left behind.

The driver of the silver Nissan told Telemundo that she veered out of the way to avoid someone in the road as she was heading north on Vermont. LAPD Officer Argueta confirmed the driver told police that same information, but that they would be investigating how exactly the crash occurred using the nearby traffic cameras.
