LA Firefighters Donate to Breast Cancer Research

Los Angeles City Firefighters donated $10,000 to fund breast cancer research on the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and the United Firefighters of Los Angeles County (UFLAC) made a $10,000 donation to The American Cancer Society.

The money that is donated will be going towards research and free patient programs and services. Some of those services will include wigs and transportation to and from treatment.

"Our service by taking an oath is to serve people everday," said Frank Lima, the president of the UFLAC.

Los Angeles is the second city with the largest disparities for breast cancer, according to the Avon Foundation.
