Last Day to Register to Vote in Midterm Elections
Monday is the final day to register to vote for the 2014 Midterm Elections on Nov. 4.
According to LAcounty.gov, people have until midnight to fill a Voter Registration Form in order to vote. Assistance in six languages, including Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Tagalog and Korean, will be provided by the registrar-recorder or county clerk.
The deadline not only applies to new voters, but also to voters who change their names, move to a different address, or change political party affiliations.
L.A County Registrar, Dean C. Logan, urges young people of the 18-29 age demographic to register so they can vote on important issues. This year's ballot includes elections for state governor and money allocation regarding the current California drought.
Logan stressed the importance of participation in local government. "Regardless of how you feel about what's happening at the national level, the state level, or the local level if you don't show up and participate your voice isn't head at all."
People can register online at RegisterToVote.ca.gov, as well as at the website of the county a resident belongs to.
For a "two-minute" registration, voters can check out lavote.net.
