Despite Scare, LAX Will Not Push for Ebola Screenings
Despite the Ebola scare on Sunday, LAX will not be implementing screenings at terminals, according to the CDC's list of airports who will be holding screenings. Across the country, five different federal airports have Ebola screenings, including JFK in New York.
On Sunday, a flight from New York carrying a passenger with flu-like symptoms landed at LAX and caused a brief panic. The flight from Kennedy Airport arrived just before 2 p.m. and officials were concerned over the patient's possible risk for Ebola. This was the second time in the past month that LAX officials were led to believe they had Ebola on sight.
Full protocol was followed thoroughly and Ebola was not in fact on board, according to LAX. The patient had traveled to South Africa in March. The Ebola outbreak is centered in West Africa.
