Pit Bull Survives Knife Attack
UPDATE Oct. 14, 2014 | 10:07 a.m. PDT: The neighbor who beat the dog with a shovel is believed to have acted out of self-defense, police said.
A mixed pit bull named "Spartacus" can happily wag his tail again on Monday after surviving a violent attack in South Los Angeles.
After two hours of surgery and between 500 and 1,000 stitches, Spartacus is in stable condition. However, LAPD is still looking for his abuser. The dog was found injured Saturday, after being hit with a shovel and slashed with a knife.
Veterinarians at the Pet Care Center on Slauson Avenue cared for Spartacus. His caretakers say the dog survived because he literally has "thick skin." His skin stopped the blade from diving too deep into his flesh, according to Dr. Laura Kosmo of the Pet Care Center.
I WOULD LOVE TO BE ON THE JURY OF THE IDIOT THAT DID THIS. I HOPE HE GETS A SENTENCE OF MANY YEARS WITH CONS WHO LOVE DOGS. PLEASE LAPD FIND HIM AND A QUICK TRIAL.
