First-Hand Account of DTLA Protests

A USC student explains the protest from the front lines. He joined the march at Figueroa and 28th and walked onto the 110 freeway with protesters.

USC senior Chris Carpenter joined protesters of the Ferguson grand jury verdict when they marched past USC's campus.

He says they tore down a fence to climb an embankment up to the 110 freeway. He says they stopped traffic in both directions, but LAPD officers broke the group into smaller sections and then pushed them down onto side streets, where the protesters dispersed.
