FSU Shooting Wounds Three Students
A shooting at Florida State University's Stroizer library Thursday morning left three people injured and the gunman dead.
At around 12:30am, Florida State police received a call about an armed man on the Tallahasee campus.
The gunman was Myron May, a FSU graduate and current Texas Tech University student who had been staying at a friend's house for the week in the Florida Panhandle.
Police confronted May who began to fire shots at the officers and was killed by returned gunfire.
“People immediately started running and screaming and running to the stairwells and to the edges of the room against walls. It was chaos,” Alexandra Magoulas, a FSU student, said in an interview with the school news, FS View.
The three wounded victims are all enrolled FSU students, said campus President John Thrasher in a statement Thursday. Police officials have not released a statement about May's motive for the shooting.
The FSU Counseling Center and Employees Assistance are providing counseling and support for any faculty and students.
All Florida State University classes have been canceled for Thursday.
