Josh Shaw Reinstated to USC Football
Josh Shaw will be reinstated to the USC football team following months of investigation, USC Athletic Director Pat Haden announced Tuesday.
Shaw became the subject of a domestic violence invesigation after an August 23rd incident where admitting he lied to various people about how he had hurt both of his ankles.
Shaw originally claimed that he sprained both ankles after he jumped from a second-floor balcony to save his nephew. That same night, a burglary report was filed by someone claiming Shaw as her boyfriend.
Haden said in an email statement, "USC also conducted its own internal investigation of Josh, evaliating both athletic department code of conduct and potential NCAA compliance issues. Based on these investigations and their conclusion, and the 10-game suspension Josh has served for code of conduct violations, we have made the decision to reinstate him. The role Josh will have in any remaining games is now in the hands of Coach Sarkisian."
USC Football Head Coach Steve Sarkisian released a statement saying, "I've welcomed Josh Shaw back to the team. I'm now in the process of evaluating how Josh can contribute to the team's success."
Shaw has not released any statements.
UPDATE:
USC players and Head Coach Steve Sarkisian are excited to have Shaw back on the practice field.
"I think [Shaw is] ia very good person," Sarkisian said Wednesday after practice. "He made a mistake, he acknowledged it, he's been remorseful for it, he's paid a severe penalty of ten games, and he's fortunate and happy to be back"
"Josh was a first round corner before the season started, and he's still a first round corner even 10 games later, so like I said, he gets on the field, Josh is going to do his thing," Safety Su'a Cravens said.
