LAX Predicted to be Busiest Airport Over Thanksgiving

Orbitz is projecting Los Angeles International Airport to be the busiest airpot in the country over Thanksgiving.

The Orbitz Insider Index predicts Los Angeles International Airport will be the busiest airport in the country for Thanksgiving travel again this year. LAX surpassed Chicago O'Hare International in 2013 on the list.

The Orbitz Insider Index analyzes flight bookings from the top 50 U.S. airports over Nov. 26 through Dec. 1 to create the bookings.

For those wishing to skip the Thanksgiving crowds, Orbitz predicts our neighbor, John Wayne Airport, in Orange County will be one of the least busy airports this holiday.

ATVN reached out to students across campus to see how airport crowding at LAX will impact their holiday travel plans.

Student Shelby Matsumura expected this and sought other alternatives to avoid the crowd at LAX. “My parents were kind of expecting this so they bought me tickets for a Greyhound bus. I would normally take an airplane but I think that they thought it would just be easier and less hassle if I just took the bus.”

Cynthia Ramirez, who did not know that LAX is the busiest airport in the country said the news did not change her plans. “I mean I’m still gonna fly out.”
