USC Football Players Named Award Finalists
The USC football team (6-3, 5-2) spent the past week relaxing on a bye, but while there was no action on the field, two players received notice of recognition for national awards. Redshirt juniors Javorius "Buck" Allen and Cody Kessler were named finalists Monday as Heisman and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm award candidates, respectively.
The runningback Allen has 1,124 yards for 8 touchdowns on the ground this the season to propel his Heisman canidacy, while the quarterback Kessler has 2,548 yds, 25 TDs, and 1 interception to find himself in company with PAC-12 quarterbacks Brett Hundley and Marcus Mariota for the nation's top-quarterback award.
The Trojans will be back in action on Thursday with a 6:00 p.m. kickoff against Cal at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum.
