USC to Launch Safety Mobile Application

USC announced a new safety mobile application will be released November 17th.

USC has developed a new safety mobile application called Live Safe that will be available November 17th to all students to download for free.

The company that created Live Safe is working with the Department of Public Safety to turn every cellphone into a personal "blue light" emergency phone.

Live Safe will allow students to report any emergency through their mobile device with text messages, photos or video. The Safe Walk feature also allows users to track their friends on a map with the option to contact campus security immediately.

The application was one of several safety measures announced by the university in August following the murder of graduate student Xinran Ji.
