USC Thursday Night Football Game
USC classes will still be in session and take place at regularly scheduled times despite the 6 p.m. football game on Thursday night, according to Trojan Athletics.
Tailgating on campus is prohibitted, which includes Fraternity and Sorority Row and all campus parks and plazas. However, USC will still allow tailgating in the areas surrounding the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Exposition Park after 2:30 p.m on Thursday afternoon.
It is also Parent's Weekend at USC. One student feels the university not permitting on-campus tailgating will take away from her family's experience.
"Tailgating on campus is a part of USC tradition as a school with a lot of spirit, so the fact that we can't tailgate on campus just ruins the whole idea of our parents coming to see how exciting and fun the USC game atmosphere is," said USC sophomore Kate Chulay on Wednesday. "It won't be the same."
Trojan Athletics will host a Beat the Bears Tailgate at Jesse Brewer Park at 3 p.m. with live music, obstacle course stations, "USC Beat Cal swag," and food and drink. Other tailgate options include Julie's Bar at the Sporta Arena, The Peristyle Club, Coliseum Clubs, and Ralphs Ultimate Tailgate Experience.
Trojan Family Weekend participants can also attend a welcoming by Athletic Director Pat Haden and head basketball coaches Cynthia Cooper-Dyke and Andy Enfield in Ronald Tutor Campus Center Grand Ballroom, with a special performance by the top-ranked Trojan Marching Band on Thursday morning. Participants can also walk along the USC football team field sideline and take a self-guided tour of the locker room on Friday afternoon.
