Cyber Monday Sales Expected to Be Larger Than Black Friday

With much convenience and excitement, Cyber Monday is expected to surpass this year's Black Friday sales as it has done in previous years.

Cyber Monday is known for being the ultimate online shopping day. Fewer people are expected to shop this Cyber Monday as compared to last year. The National Retail Federation expects about 127 million people to shop online this year, which is lower than the 131 million people who planned to shop at the same time last year. As of noon, online sales rose 9.2 percent compared to last year, according to IBM Digital Analytics.

Some shoppers say Cyber Monday is a more convenient day to shop because there’s no waiting in lines or competing with other customers for that last item — and happy costumers can certainly lead to more money.

USC student, Gabrielle Cohen, says that "Cyber Monday makes holiday shopping a lot easier for college students who need last minute gifts for their families back at home."

And 37-year-old father Jose Yandell says that "it's convenient for the whole family and for everyone who wants to get their shopping done on time."

Tech Times reported that the average shopper spent about $310 on Black Friday in comparison to $470 on Cyber Monday, and this could be due to the convenience factor. Savings on Cyber Monday this year are reportedly predicted to be 10 to 14 percent better than Black Friday.

Mobile sales are also expected to increase, with one in five shoppers using their tablet and smartphone to get the latest deals, according to the National Retail Federation. Sites like Amazon used their “lightning deals” to promote quick shopping on the mobile app.
