Sports SCene: Episode 5
On this edition of Sports SCene, hosts Ken Mashinchi and Jeremy Bergman preview the week in USC sports and report on the State of Troy.
The most notable team so far this spring has been USC baseball. After Tuesday night's 3-2, 10-inning game over Fresno State in Fresno, the Trojans improved their record to a perfect 9-0. They are the last undefeated team in the Pac-12 and lead the NCAA in multiple categories, including stolen bases -- 32, half of the total the Trojans had last year. The key to the team's success has been the extraordinary play by senior catcher Garrett Stubbs. Stubbs has caught every win so far and is leading the team in steals. Most impressively, he's batting. 500 through nine games; 17 of his 18 hits have been singles. Small. Ball.
USC Women's Lacrosse returned from the east coast to put a beatdown on the visiting Fresno State Bulldogs, 17-6. Sophomore attacker Michaela Michael set a MPSF single-game record with 15 draw controls and was oen of three Trojans to record a hate trick. The Trojans are now 2-2 on the season and won't play until March 9 against Liberty.
Meanwhile, USC Basketball's final homestand of the season is this week, as the Trojans take on Washington and Washington State. Sports SCene correspondent Jodee Sullivan went out to ask USC students about their thoughts on Senior Day. The one twist: there's no seniors on this year's roster. But do USC students know that?
