Julie Chen, Leslie Moonves Visit Namesake Media Center

USC Annenberg multimedia center gains its title following a gift from Julie Chen, Leslie Moonves and CBS. ATVN's Marc Sallinger and Ani Ucar report.

The multimedia center at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism has been officially titled the Julie Chen/Leslie Moonves and CBS Media Center.

The naming of the center is thanks to a joint gift, the amount of which has not been announced. Chen, who graduated from USC in 1991, has been married to CBS President and CEO, Moonves, since 2004. The center, which was opened in Fall 2014, converges digital journalism over the platforms of radio, broadast and print to transcend the confines of a traditional newsroom.

"This generous gift from Julie Chen and Les Moonves prepares today's communication and journalism students for the world of tomorrow by mastering cross-discipline technology in a real-world setting," said USC President C. L. Max Nikias, reported by USC News. "The new Chen/Moonves and CBS Media Center is the centerpiece of innovation in a building, the Wallis Annenberg Hall, that represents innovative thinking."

President and CEO of the Annneberg Foundation, Wallis Annenberg, said innovation was the inspiration for the entire Wallis Annenberg Hall.

"My hope is that everyone who uses the Media Center views this as a starting point," said Annenberg. "As the media landscape evolves, we want the Media Center to evolve as well."

USC Anneberg has raised more than $100 million for Wallis Annenberg Hall, scholarships and fellowships, chaired professorships and new student projects, just two years after launching a fundraising initiative for $150 million.

Julie Chen is one of five hosts on CBS daytime talk-show, "The Talk," and has been the host of Big Brother since 2000. Leslie Moonves has been with CBS since 1995 when he was President of Entertainment, after first developing many hit TV shows including "Friends" and "ER" during his time as President of Warner Bros. Television.
