Sports SCene: Pro Day Edition

In this episode, hosts Rachel Kohn and Ken Mashinchi talk about the highlights from USC Pro Day, and break down the player's performances.

Eight former USC football players took to Cromwell Field on Wednesday for Pro Day 2015.

Some of the highlights from the day include top draft pick Leonard Williams, George Farmer's performance in the 40, Nelson Agholor's first real chance to showcase his skills after injuring his thumb in the Combine, and Josh Shaw getting honest with reporters, and speaking out about being suspended, and later reinstated to the football team.

DE Leonard Williams is projected to be a Top 5 NFL draft pick. Williams did not participate in any timed drills today, but did work out with the defensive line coach for the Tennessee Titans. Williams said he was confident with the times he put up during the Combine.

"At the end of the day, it's an honor and blessing to be picked anywhere in the first round," said Williams.

Meanwhile, wide receiver George Farmer had a lot to prove coming into Pro Day. Farmer battled injuries throughout his entire career at USC, though he came in as a top prospect. Farmer also didn't have as much film to showcase, and wasn't invited to this year's NFL Combine. However, Farmer may be able to get the attention of NFL scouts after putting up a 4:35 in the 40. Farmer was projected to not be drafted, and later be signed as a free agent.

"I never doubted myself in what I could do," said Farmer. "To run that 40 today just took a weight off my shoulder, just to know that I'm back at my original speed."

Nelson Agholor also had a lot to prove this Pro Day. Agholor ended early at the NFL Combine after dislocating his thumb. He said he was excited to participate in the timed drills for Pro Day, and show off his skills. The powerhouse wide receiver is projected to be a second round draft pick.

"I thought I ran good routes, and I was controlled," said Agholor.

Josh Shaw was also the talk of Pro Day. The cornerback candidly spoke with the media regarding his off-the-field problems when he lied about how he sprained both of his ankles in August. This resulted in a 10-game suspension back in August, but Shaw was reinstated to the team, and played in the final 3 games.

"I just look them in the eye and tell them the truth," said Shaw about how he handles questions regarding the issue.

Other former standouts who participated were tailback Javorius "Buck" Allen, linebacker Hayes Pullard, kicker Andre Heidari, and linebacker J.R. Tavai.

Find out where these players end up at the NFL Draft. The 2015 NFL Draft starts on April 30th and goes until May 2nd.
