Student Remains In Hospital Following Traffic Accident Near USC
A traffic accident at Jefferson and McClintock Thursday around noon left four students injured. A sedan plowed into a traffic sign and knocked it down, striking the USC students.
The 24-year-old victim who remains in the hospital was identified as Tong Tong, a third-year graduate student at the USC School of Architecture. She has regained consciousness and is still in the hospital. Medical personnel are feeling positive about her recovery, according to the dean of the school.
Wei Du was one of the other students struck and idenitified. The second-year graduate student was treated and released at the scene.
Qingyun Ma, the Dean of the School of Architecture released this statement on Monday, "As you may have heard, two of our students were injured in the car accident last Thursday, Feb. 26, north of campus on Jefferson.
Wei Du, a 2nd year landscape architecture graduate student, was treated and released. However, Tong Tong, a 3rd year landscape student, was hospitalized with a head injury. I am very happy to report that Tong has regained consciousness, and medical personnel are feeling positive towards her recovery.
I would like, in particular, to thank Tong’s classmates and faculty who have expressed such an outpouring of support. Tong and her parents greatly appreciate the concern and good wishes from Tong’s USC family.
As we continue to keep the Tong Family in our thoughts and prayers, we encourage anyone in need of support to contact your advisor in Student Services or the counselors in Student Counseling Services or the Center for Work and Family Life."
