USC vs ASU Post Game Press Conference

The No. 19 USC football team (3-1,1-1) traveled to Tempe, Arizona and knocked off Arizona State (2-2, 0-1) in the first road game of the season for the Trojans, 42-14. In the win, redshirt senior quarterback Cody Kessler tallied 375 yards and five touchdowns through the air against the Sun Devil secondary that came into the contest ranked atop the PAC-12 in pass defense.

After the game, Kessler talked about the value of the offense's performance through the aerial attack as the Trojan ground game was thwarted throughout, only compiling 76 yards. Kessler also talked about the leadership that several of the USC players exhibited throughout the week to help the squad regain confidence after a stunning loss to Stanford last week.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian, who appeared emotional throughout the press conference, explained that this victory of ASU was nothing more than a well fought game for the coaching staff, though he and his assistants came into the contest under heavy scrutiny. Sarkisian also explained the importance of forcing turnovers on defense, a message he harped in a team meeting Friday, which his team took to heart as they forced four turnovers on the night.

Sophomore Adoree' Jackson joined the conversation to discuss his play that included appearances on all three facets of the game, including an 80-yard touchdown reception for the game's opening score. The standout performer explained the favorite play he took part in during the victory and what it's like to be a part of this Trojan team.

USC will have a bye week to practice before returning to PAC-12 play to take on the University of Washington October 8 in Sarkisian's first game against his former team.
