USC vs. Idaho Post Game Press Conference
The No. 8 USC Trojans came out in impressive fashion to win a 59-9 romp over the Idaho Vandals. Quarterback Cody Kessler threw for a career high 410 yards, while Sophomore Juju Smith-Schuster had 10 catches for 192 yards to lead the offense in their blowout win. On the defensive end, Senior linebacker Anthony Sarao shined with 5 total tackles and freshmen Cameron Smith held his own with 6 tackles overall. Smith was one of several freshman players to be added into the rotation against Idaho.
After the game USC headcoach Steve Sarkisian was joined by wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and linebacker Anthony Sarao. Sark discussed the addition of all eligible players to the lineup saying, "It's one thing to wear the uniform and come down the tunnel, it's another thing to go out in the game and be on the stat sheet." In their victory, the team saw 14 freshman take the field.
The USC offense showcased increased chemistry, specifically between quaterback Cody Kessler and Juju Smith-Schuster. The Sophomore wide receiver spoke about his execution in the win and the added trust, building between him and Kessler. Linebacker Anthony Sarao stressed the importance of carrying the team's focus into their second half play, adding that the defense came out fast and physical against Idaho early on.
USC (2-0) will take the Coliseum field again Saturday when they begin Pac-12 play aginst the Stanford Cardinal (1-1).
