USG Postpones Diversity Vote
Last night the Undergraduate Student Government decided to postpone its vote on a new diversity initiative. The resolution outlines specific suggestions for USC administrators to follow in order to make USC a more inclusive environment. It asks USC to create new positions within each academic school to promote diversity and inclusion. The resolution also asks USC to create a $100 million scholarship and fellowship for minority students to have more opportunities.
Residential Senator Dan Li said that USG decided to delay the vote becaue some of the other senators felt they needed more time to thoroughly and carefully read the proposal. This Sunday the senators will meet with the writers of the resolution to clarify any uncertainties and make sure they fully understand the resolution. Li said he expects the vote to take place within the next two weeks.
