Misty May-Treanor, beach volleyball's most-decorated player, is joining USC's sand volleyball team as a volunteer assistant coach.

"Excited to continue learning about the sport of beach volleyball and how a four-year program is run," May-Treanor said on Facebook. "Always trying to improve my self, help others and grow the sport."

May-Treanor won three straight Olympic Gold medals alongside her partner Kerri Walsh Jennings. She also leads all-time in match victories (112) and individual winnings ($2,132,733). The team of May-Treanor and Walsh Jennings has won the most matches and earned the most winnings of any women's beach volleyball team.

"Misty has a great work ethic both on and off the court," sand volleyball head coach Anna Collier said. "She will bring that same ethic to the team which will enable our student-athletes to see the kind of hard work it takes to become a top sand volleyball player.

"I believe it's just going to elevate our team to another level and make us a national contender."

May-Treanor and Walsh Jennings earned their fame in the 2004 Athens Olympics, where the team did not lose a single set on their way to becoming Olympic Gold medalists. The duo repeated as Olympic champions at Beijing 2008 and returned to win gold for a third time at London 2012.

Now May-Treanor will be bringing her volleyball success to the Women of Troy and USC's newest sports venue -- Merle Norman Stadium.

"I am really excited to be joining the USC sand volleyball program and its tremendous coaching staff" said May-Treanor. "I can't wait to learn from coach Anna Collier and to help bring a championship to the university."

May-Treanor played at Newport Harbor High School, where she won two California State Championships. She then went to Long Beach State, where she was a three-time Big West Player of the Year and a two-time First-Team All-American. May-Treanor also captained the 49ers to an undefeated season and a National Championship in 1998.
