Hello, my name is James Santelli and I am currently a credentialed writer for Pirates Prospects. I was formerly the Sports Director for Los Angeles-based Neon Tommy, the most trafficked online-only university publication in America. My work has appeared in such outlets as Pittsburgh Sports Report, Pittsburgh Magazine,,, The NewsHouse and

I am entering my senior year at the University of Southern California, majoring in Broadcast and Digital Journalism and minoring in Sports Media Studies at the Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism. My goal is to work in sports broadcasting after college.

I won an L.A. Press Club award for Sports Photography by snapping this photo of Arizona State linebacker Vontaze Burfict. I was also the proud winner of the Chick Hearn Memorial Scholarship and Allan Malamud Scholarship during my junior year at USC.

In the summer of 2012, I worked as an intern for, operating from the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, England. This past summer, I worked as a staff writer and multimedia intern for the Pittsburgh Penguins, following the team’s run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs run and leading coverage of rookie Development Camp.

I was a public address announcer for three years at Fox Chapel Area High School in Pittsburgh, Pa., calling mostly volleyball, field hockey, lacrosse and basketball.

At USC, I am the Associate Sports Director for Annenberg TV News. I also broadcast play-by-play for Trojans baseball, football and basketball.
