The Importance of Teamwork
Thursday’s show was a great feeling. We all kind of went into the day dragging. Mike and I were both sick, and I think it’s just that time of year when everyone is really bogged down and just wants to sleep for an entire day and start again. But, the show must go on!
Luckily, Ashley and I didn’t have to go to class in the middle of our producing day (usually on Thursdays the lead producer is alone for 3 hours during the day while his or her teammates are in class). This was the only time this has happened for us all semester. I think it really made a difference in our day to be able to consult each other during those critical three hours.
We even had late breaking news for the first time ever and I still thought our show was the best one we’ve had this semester by far. While that’s great, I don’t really think it’s a HUGE accomplishment. It’s our most recent show, it probably should be our best especially since we’ve now rotated through all of the producer positions.
What I really noticed this week and what I think is really great is how well the three Thursday producer work as a team. We have developed a great system of communication and I think we each really stepped in to put this show on the air, more so than we have in the past. I’m also usually a pretty competitive person. I surprised myself in that I wasn’t jealous my shows weren’t as good as this one, but I can honestly say I don’t care and I’m not comparing other than to learn what to do better. It felt great to be part of such a successful team and I’m excited for the coming weeks.
