Countdown

This week we got to cover a lot of great stories. The most exciting story on my end was the conviction in the Chandra Levy murder because the web department has been following it for so long. Here’s the story: Jury convicts Salvadoran immigrant guilty in Levy murder.

The next top story was a shocking one. It was the death of the toddler who fell at the Staples Center. We were able to further develop the story throughout the day as information came out. Read more here: Staples Center death.

A more controversial story is about the new airport security measures and we were able to cover it with a copy story: Villaraigosa tests new LAX scanners. With Thanksgiving coming up in a few days we had a good holiday piece about a local turkey giveaway: Thousands line up for a turkey giveaway.

Other stories covered later on I the day include: Renovated LAX fire station dedicated Monday morning, Minnesota Vikings fire head coach Brad Childress, More than 345 killed as thousands flee Cambodian festival, Long Beach bridge crumbling, and Qantas will resume the flights of superjumbos.

We got video up for three of the pieces and had a good map uploaded to one. All in all I’ve seen a great improvement on the coverage of web stories over the course of the semester. I am looking forward to how well we perform for our last week!
