The Importance of Creativity

TAGS:

Once week eight rolls around, it is easy to get repetitive with the show. All of us get into a familiar routine. While this routine is comforting and helps us be productive, it is important to break up the routine every once in a while. This is where getting creative is so important. Creativity will help us keep out current viewers and attract new viewers. Every person on the team has the power to pump some creativity into our show.

It starts with with morning meeting. Encouraging everyone, including MJs, to participate in our weekly Monday morning meetings is important. It allows us to hear various viewpoints and is an opportunity to hear stories that the core group of producers would not have thought of.

The lead producer and 1 p.m. producer have so much room for creativity in their shows. Live shots, stand up teases, anchors at the monitor and creating engaging graphics are all great examples of creative extras that make the show that much better. Additionally, the social media producer has endless opportunities to be creative with Twitter and Facebook. Personally, I like switching up the photos and videos every now and then. I have also recently discovered Periscope and am excited about experimenting with it during the show.
