11:30 p.m. - REGAL TROJAN - A status conference is scheduled at Rafael’s kitchen table. The session will discuss more solid and concrete package ideas and people to interview. There will be a presentation with different angles to the stories. A status conference is usually held this early when most of the big stories are local. Sometimes it is harder to pitch a big and national story with a local twist and/or USC angle. This is where he struggles the most. 870 W. Adams Blvd. Contact Rafael Garcia: 1-800-JOURNALISM-STRUGGLES
—Some days—
1:20 a.m. - REGAL TROJAN - Sentencing is scheduled for Rafael Garcia, a journalism student who is struggling to come up with story ideas for the show on Monday and still doesn't know what to pitch. This will usually happen when there is no big news. Other struggles include visuals for good stories that are B-roll challenged. This is something that happens quite often in the brainstorming session. 870 W. Adams Blvd. Contact Rafael Garcia: 1-800-Zzzzzzzzzzzzz
EXPANDED BUDGET FOR MONDAYS
5:30 a.m. - REGAL TROJAN - A hearing is scheduled in Rafael’s living room to discuss current news and possibly replacing and incorporating ideas to the package list from last night. LA Times, KTLA, KCAL, CNN and LA Times Now on Twitter will be main sources of information. 870 W. Adams Blvd. Contact Rafael Garcia: 1-800-I-NEED-COFFEE
6:30 a.m. - REGAL TROJAN - A pretrial hearing is scheduled at Rafael’s kitchen table. The hearing will discuss the top five stories of the day including new package ideas. By this time Rafael is checking all news outlets to find the most current and relevant stories for the show. All stories will have a game plan with specific people to interview. However, this is something that can be an obstacle. Sometimes finding characters instead of experts can be a little bit challenging. Breakfast will take place in his kitchen table as well. 870 W. Adams Blvd. Contact Rafael Garcia: 1-800-BREAKFAST
8:15a.m.- MEDIA CENTER - A motions hearing will take place in the media center. Producers, MJs and reporters will attend the hearing. Their input on story ideas is very helpful because they will give you new ways to tackle a single story. This will make the producing process way smoother because the more stories you have, the better. A producer meeting will follow the hearing where all stories are discussed more in depth. 1-800-SHOW-TIME
