Report: Committee Members Charging Taxpayers for Fill-ups

Los Angeles Coliseum Committee members have been using thousands in taxpayer dollars to cover personal expenditures.

Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum committee members have been indicated in missusing tax money to fund personal expenses such as gas and medical bills, according to an audit released Sunday.

Los Angeles City Controller Wendy Greuel has designated a team of auditors to pore over the Coliseum's financial records in wake of the growing scandal.

According to the audit, Coliseum finance director, Ronald Lederkramer, billed taxpayers $7,600 to fuel his cars, an Infinity and a Jaguar, since 2008, which is roughly $36 per week.

Other officials have submitted similar fuel bills, purportedly to cover their on-the-job gas expenses, even though the audit claim that most work-related travel is limited to occasional car trips.

The reinbursement plan was instituted in 2001, but it came with a $6000 ceiling, and was solely for on-the-job expenses.

The Coliseum's former events manager, Todd DeStefano, and former manager Patrick Lynch, who resigned amid the rave controversy, racked up $7,500 and $8,100 respectively.

Taxpayer outrage is growing as other perks taken by committee members are being disclosed to the public.

Records show that DeStefano had used taxpayer dollars to reimbuse his medical expenses-- including $2,196 for massages.

Lederkramer also charged personal medical costs to the taxpayers' bill, including $1,000 for a visit to a New York physician who specializes in psychological methods for treating lower back pain.
