L.A. Traffic Not Among the Worst

Average commute in Los Angeles is only three minutes longer than national average.

A new report says the average commute to work is 28.1 minutes in the Los Angeles, Long Beach and Santa Ana area.

The 2010 American Community Survey found that the one-year estimate for commutes shows the national average is 25.3 minutes. The largest percentage of commuters spend 15 to 19 minutes on the road each way.

The Los Angeles area average is the nation's 17th worst commute.

The New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island commute tops Thursday's American Community Survey list of worst commutes. It takes drivers there an average 34.6 minutes to get to work.
