Southern California Under Wildfire Warning

Winds and very low humidity prompts high-risk wildfire conditions.

A combination of winds and very low humidity Thursday, prompted a red flag warning indicating high-risk wildfire conditions for many regions across Southern California.

The warning will remain active until 3 p.m. in the Los Angeles National Forest, Santa Monica Recreational Mountains and the Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys.

Wind speeds in the mountains have the potential of reaching 40 to 50 mph and speeds of 30 to 40 mph in the valleys.

A separate red flag warning for Orange County is set to expire one hour earlier at 2 p.m.

If the combination of warm air and low humidity continues through the weekend, there will be an extension of red-flag warnings.
