Occupy Riverside Protesters Arrested

A total of 11 protesters were arrested at the "Occupy Riverside" movement after a clash with the police, who were trying to dismantle the group's camp near City Hall. 

Police had begun warning protesters on Friday that the tent city had to come down due to city ordinances that protect the public plaza.  

A fight broke out Sunday after protesters formed a human chain to prevent the officers from forcibly removing the tents, police say. 

One protester threw a bottle at an officer and was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

The ten others were arrested on suspicion of assault on a police officer or resisting an officer.

There were no reported injuries although the police came prepared in full riot gear. 

Supporters of "Occupy Riverside" tweeted about police brutality and uploaded videos showing the clash. 

@OccupyRiverside tweeted that they would make a new camp: "CBS news here at #occupyriverside. Police have distroyed our camp. GA tonight @ 7. Bring sleeping bags, tents, water. #ows."

The Occupy protests, which were born of the Occupy Wall Street movement in New York, are beginning to frustrate many who were previously supportive or tolerant of the movements.

More arrests are being reported from around the country as police and city officials are beginning to push the protesters to move out and move on.

One "Occupy Atlanta" protester was taken into custody Sunday night after she deliberately violated an 11 p.m. curfew at a park in downtown Atlanta to demonstrate how the city was wasting resources to arrest her.

On Monday, 20 more protestors were arrested at the same Woodruff Park after police came out on horseback and in full riot gear.

Some groups are responding to the turning sentiment by becoming increasingly aggressive. 

A group calling itself "The Real Occupy Portland and the 99%" allegedly vandalized two Portland banks, by breaking windows and throwing paint inside a Wells Fargo branch and Chase Bank branch.

Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson issued an order to clear out Occupy Vancouver protesters Saturday after a young woman died from suspected drug overdose.  Her death is the first to be linked with the Occupy movement.

Mayor Villaraigosa has said that the Occupy L.A. movement "cannot continue."  

Arrests have been made at Occupy L.A., including the arrest of a protestor on charges of vandalism, after the man reportedly dumped fluorescent paint on an historic marble fountain.
