US Airways Fares Up

US Airways increases price per round trip by up to $10.

US Airways confirmed Thursday it has increased round trip fares by $4 to $10.

Price raises started as an attempt to increase revenue during slow travel months.

US Airways also successfully increased prices two weeks ago, but last week's proposed fare increase was canceled.

Southwest and Jetblue have also been considering raising airfare, but have not acted on it yet. American Airlines said it was considering matching US Airways' fare increase.

Airlines have attempted almost 20 fare hikes this year, but only half of those have been successful.
