The recall comes after 12 reports of the bicycle frame breaking, which has lead to the riders sustaining a total of two injuries, a head laceration requiring 20 stitches, and scrapes and bruises.

“In the interest of the safety of our consumers who have purchased the bike, we just want to make sure that we do recall the bikes," said Stephanie Genuardi, Marketing Communications Coordinator of Advanced Sports, Inc."We are replacing them and giving them new frames or potentially giving them credit towards new bikes.”

About 10,500 of the bicycles, which were manufactured in China and sold nationwide from November 2007 through December 2011, will be recalled. This means that it is now illegal to resell or try to resell the bicycle.

Fuji’s recommended remedy for the recall is to, “stop riding the recalled bicycle immediately and return it to any authorized Fuji Bicycle dealers for a free replacement frame,” according to the CPSC release.

For any additional information, consumers are encouraged to contact Advanced Sports Inc. at (888) 286-6263 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET.
