The children's mother has been detained by the child abuse unit.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a 7:30 a.m. radio call reporting a five-year-old and one-year-old unresponsive at 935 W 50th St.

Both children were in "grave condition" when taken to the California Hospital Medical Center.
