The LAFD will be in the intersections until 2 p.m. Wednesday.

As part of the 7th annual fundraiser, firefighters dressed in uniform will ask for donations from driver stopped at red lights and pedestrians.

"By running a Fill The Boot campaign for Jerry's Kids, you are part of a noble effort - one that depends on your support to succeed," said Harold A. Schaitberger, General President of the International Association of Fire Fighters.

Last year, the Los Angeles Fire Department raised $178,855 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

This year, the proceeds will support "Jerry's Kids", those affected by any of nine inherited muscle disorders that usually develop in youth or young adulthood.

The national campaign, which has raised more than $300 million, helps fund a Muscular Dystrophy research program and provides families clinic visits, support groups, equipment repairs, and health workshops.  The money also helps to send kids with muscular dystrophy to summer camp.

If you are interested in donating, look for firefighters at the following intersections:

  • 9th and Figueroa
  • Hoover and Jefferson
  • Jefferson and La Cienega
  • Wilshire and Normandie
  • Venice and La Brea
Check out the map to learn where you can donate to the LAFD nearby the USC campus until Wednesday afternoon.  See the full listings of locations here

Those unable to make it to a "Fill The Boot" location today can donate to the cause here.
