Launchfest Music Festival Comes to Campus
Starting Tuesday, USC students can attend Launchfest, a free four-day music festival on campus that will feature different bands at various locations.
The event kicked off with a performance by USC alumn Charles Jones, a 2007 graduate in Music Industry. As a traveling singer, he's played for Jennifer Hudson and produced music for tv shows.
"I do music for a living," said Jones. "I play piano professionally, I sing professionally and I produce professionally and write. My friends invited me out to sing about the love of God and promo for Launchfest."
Conrad Wilton, a senior studying Broadcast Journalism, said he really enjoyed the performance. "It is unbelievable!" said Wilton. "The experience is amazing."
Wilton also thought Launchfest was something that the university should continue to host in the future.
According to Launchfest's Facebook page, the events "will be a historic music experience of different sounds featuring a broad range of genres-- electronic music to indie to rock, etc."
Jackie Son, a coordinator for the event, says there's never been anything like this music festival on campus.
"We're really hoping the new sounds being released through the showcases and big concerts will impact our campus in a good way," said Son. "We just want to release new sound from real talent. We're trying to shift the paradigm of what Christian music can be."
Launchfest will be held through Thursday from 12pm to 1pm at Tommy Trojan and Friday at 7:30pm on the McCarthy Quad.
