Apple Reveals New iPad Mini
Apple Inc. revealed the iPad mini Tuesday with a screen that's two-thirds the size of the full-size model.
The starting price for the model will cost $329 and Apple will start shipping the product next week. The company will add models capable of using cellular networks from AT&T, Verizon and Sprint which will start at $459.
The iPad mini price falls slightly below the iPad 2 which costs $399 and just above the iPod touch at $299. Co
Apple shares fell 2.3 percent when the price was announced.
The screen of the iPad mini is larger than the 7-inch screens of its competitors and has two cameras, on the front and the back, further differentiating it from other tablets.
The iPad mini is as thin as a pencil and weighs half as much as the full-size iPad. It has the same screen resolution as the iPad 2.
Other gadgets are being revealed just in time for the upcoming holiday season.
Apple will be upgrading the full-sized iPad, with a faster processor and faster Wi-Fi capabilities. This will also go on sale next week.
The 13-inch version of the MacBook Pro with sharper, "Retina" display was also unveiled Tuesday.
Analysts expect Apple will sell between 5 million to 10 million iPad minis before the end of this year.
