Ford Fusion Named 'Green Car of the Year'
The Los Angeles Auto Show is set to open it's doors on Friday, but the media already had a two-day sneak peak into the event.
With over 1,000 vehicles on display, the center of attention fell on the Ford Fusion, this year's "Green Car of the Year." The new Fusion was applauded for its fuel efficiency, performance and hybrid model options.
The cars on display at the Los Angeles Convention Center show off the latest in fuel-efficient, hybrid, electric and alternative fuel technologies. There will be about two dozen all-electric and plug-in electrical models, over twelve clean-diesel vehicles and nearly 20 cars averaging more than 40 miles per gallon with very advanced four-cylinder engines.
Making their debut alongside this year's hottest green cars are some of the newest luxury vehicles. Over 20 world debuts and 30 North American premiers are expected at this year's show.
On Thursday, the media was allowed to participate in test drives in some of the featured green technology vehicles. These cars include the Acura ILX Hybrid, Chevrolet Volt, Fiat 500e, the Fisker Karma luxury EV, Mercedes-Benz GL BlueTec clean diesel SUV, Mitsubishi i-MiEV, Nissan Leaf, Smart EV and Subaru Outback. BMW's i3 Spyder Plug-in Hybrid and Lexus LF-CC will also be highlighted at the show on Friday.
open "it's" doors.......come on, how about a little old school journalism.
