Chris Brown Accused of Skimping on Community Service
UPDATE | 2:56 p.m.: A Los Angeles judge has ordered Chris Brown to return to court on April 5 after the probation department reviews the allegations made against the singer.
ORIGINAL STORY | 11:46 a.m.: Chris Brown is scheduled to face a judge for a progress report Wednesday.
L.A. District Attorney Jackie Lacey has motioned against Brown for failing to complete and violating the terms of probation, including the 180-day community service as part of his sentence.
In a 19-page court filing, Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray stated that reports of Brown's completion of community service were fabricated.
According to the report filed by Richmond, Va., police, Brown was accused of being absent during his operating hour of community service.
The filing also included Brown's several other misconducts during his probation period.
The singer, along with his two companions, was recently reported brawling with Frank Ocean in West Hollywood over a parking space.
Brown also tested positive for marijuana last summer, and reportedly stole a phone from a fan who took a picture of him in Miami.
His defense has reacted vigorously against the prosecution request.
"Apparently the District Attorney's Office has completely lost their minds," Mark Geragos, Brown's attorney said. "They are making scurrilous libelous and defamatory statements."
Brown, 23, has been on court-ordered probation since June 2009, after being found guilty of assaulting his girlfriend, singer Rihanna.
