Love or Lust at Traddies
USC Hospitality, Traditions and True Colors International are teaming up to bring a little love to campus--love that can be found within yourself or with someone else.
"The idea is to focus on personalities because the problem with speed dating is that you have the same conversation over and over again," said Niki Payne of Examiner.com.
Traditions will feature Valentine's Day themed speed-dating event called "Love in the Club" on Thursday.
Sponsored by True Colors International, Payne explained that True Colors aims to match people based on personality traits. Using color coordinated cards symbolizing personality traits, students will go through a quick, yet in-depth, process to discover their "true colors."
Examples of questions that will be asked are "What is your favorite movie star and why?" and "Do you prefer calling or texting when it comes to communicating on the phone?"
Payne explained that "every interaction in life is a moment of self exploration and the idea is even if you don't get matched with someone at the end of the event."
"You will learn something about yourself based on how you interact with people," she continued.
William Price, the assistant manager at Traditions, described the event as a different and fun way for everyone to celebrate Valentine's Day, even if they are not in a relationship.
The bar will be transformed with Valentine's Day decorations and a themed menu with new food and drinks. Happy hour will feature new drinks such as "Co-lot of Love", which is similar to a pina colada. To participate in the event, guests must be 18 or older. To drink, guests must be 21 and have their IDs.
Party favors will be given out to all speed dating participants sponsored by the new Engemann Student Health Center. The bags include mouse pads, highlighters, pens and Be Well USC t-shirts.
The "Love in the Club" event begins at 6:30pm at Traditions on Trousdale behind the Campus Center.
