Student Arrested in Texas College Stabbing Spree

Over a dozen students were injured after a student went on a stabbing spree at a Texas community college Tuesday.

At least 14 people have been injured after a student went on a stabbing spree at Lone Star Community College in Cypress, Texas on Tuesday.

The suspect, believed to be a 21-year-old enrolled at the school, has been taken into custody.

Two people were left in critical condition after the attack.

Several people refused treatment at the scene, and all wounds were consistent with stabbing.

Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia said a call came into 911 describing a "male on the loose stabbing people" on the Lone Star campus.

The investigation is ongoing, and suspect's motive and exact weapon used are still unknown.

"Some of the details in the call slip did indicate that students or faculty were actively responding to work to subdue this individual," Garcia said. "So we're proud of those folks, but we're glad no one else is injured any more severely than they are."

Four people were taken by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital due to the severity of their condition.

The school was put on lockdown as authorities searched each building to ensure no other attackers or wounded people were left on campus.

School officials told people on campus to seek shelter and stay away from the area until the incident was resolved.

"It was the same suspect going from building to building," Lone Star department spokesman Thomas Gilliland said.

Lone Star student Teaundrae Perryman said he was in class when he received a text message from a friend about the incident.

He proceeded to go outside where he saw a  young woman being taken away by an ambulance with what appeared to be stab wounds to either her neck or head.

He did not receive an email alert from the school until 11:56 a.m.

"I was concerned but I wasn't afraid because I was with a large group of people," the 21-year-old said. "The police got to the scene very quickly."

Tuesday's incident comes three months after a shooting which occured at another Lone Star campus, wounding three people at the North Harris college in Houston.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
