New Website Offers Transparency on City Spending
Los Angeles officials heralded what's being touted as a more intense effort for transparency Wednesday with the launch of the Control Panel L.A. website.
The open data site is designed to be user-friendly so residents can easily access information on city spending, audits and revenues.
The site marks the first time the public has direct access to search and analyze city data information.
In a tweet commemorating the launch of the site, the City of L.A.'s Controller Ron Galperin wrote, "Transparency is not an end in and of itself - it’s a means to start making government work better."
