Shutdown Having Minor Impact on LAX

Passengers at LAX say the airport is emptier than usual.

The government shutdown has many travelers wondering how airports will be affected.

Currently airport jobs such as TSA, air traffic control, and security personnel are not being affected by the government shutdown. Positions such as air traffic safety oversight and aircraft certification services are limited, according to the Department of Transportation.

There are a few airport services that will suffer the effects of the shutdown and those are personnel security background investigations and the employee drug testing program.

Although the shutdown isn't expected to affect airport operations, some passengers are complaining about the limited customer service and saying airports and airplanes are very empty.
