Lamarana's Local Leader: All Peoples Community Center
South L.A.'s Historic All Peoples Community Center has been serving South L.A. for more than 70 years, providing childcare, afterschool activities, summer camp, counseling, food distribution, parenting, gardening and nutrition classes.
"The best way to describe All Peoples is, its a neighborhood community center. We have a staff from the community that care about making a difference in the community," said Saundra Bryant, the Executive Director of All Peoples. "People come to All Peoples because they have real problems and together we find real solutions."
Last week, All Peoples held their "I Can We Can" art exhibit, displaying the work of domestic violence victims in their program.
"As we know domestic violence doesn't just affect the victims, it affects the children and family as a whole," explained Leticia Ortiz Gonzalez, the Project Coordinator.
"To have a community center that feels more like a family, a place where it is safe, a place where you can always come to is tremendously important because now it doesn't feel like you're doing this alone, you have a support system," said Delia Aceituno, the After-school Youth Coordinator.
