Organization Holds Halloween Phone-a-thon for Immigration Reform

A nonprofit organization holds an event in support of immigrant citizenship rights.

Volunteers with the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of L.A. dressed up in costumes for their a phone-a-thon Thursday to support immigration reform.

Workers transferred calls from people around the country to Congressmen to urge them to pass immigration reform bills and take action to support immigrants' pathway to citizenships.

Carlos Soriano,a volunteer at CHIRLA thinks immigrents should have easier access to citizenship. "In this country, there are 11.7 million undocumented immigrants. They contribute to the society, they contribute to this country, they contribute to the work force and they bring a lot of revenue to this country. They should have reciprocating rights," he stated.

Jorge Garabico, another volunteer at CHIRLA, believes calls to constituents all over the world are important since immigration reform is the most important issue in United States politics.
