Pasadena Offers Free Flu Vaccine Clinics
Pasadena Public Health Department held the first of several free flu vaccine clinics in downtown Pasadena Tuesday.
Flu vaccines in both shot and nasal spray forms were available to everyone over the age of three.
People of all ages turned out for the event, as upbeat music played overhead in the park space owned by Day One, a non-profit health education organization."
We hope the public will take advantage of this free clinic on October 15 to get vaccinated as flu is a very serious disease that can lead to hospitalization.
Flu symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue," said Dr. Eric Walsh, Pasadena Public Health Department Director and the City's Health Officer.
High-risk groups most vulnerable to the flu include senior citizens; people with chronic illness such as asthma, and pregnant women, Dr. Walsh explained.
For residents unable to attend Tuesday's clinic, several more will be held throughout October and November in Pasadena. The next clinic will take place on Tuesday, October 22, at Villa Parke Community Center. Additional dates and information can be found here.
In addition to free clinics, most doctor's offices and many chain pharmacies, including Walgreen's, offer vaccinations.
Above all, health officials urge the importance of getting vaccinated early in the season to prevent unnecessary illness.
